Sign of Frustration
I often come across signs that I find inadequate. The supposition is that someone put up a sign in order to communicate something to whoever sees the sign. However, often, the sign doesn’t help or sometimes even confuses the situation. One example I see on a regular basis. Since the signs in question are traffic signs created for the benefit of the public — paid for by taxpayer dollars — I would like to see these signs get improved.
The graphic I created to the left illustrates a very simple fix that would improve the sign. The top is how the signs really are, the bottom is my simple fix. Here is why it is better. I see this sign while driving as I near an expressway. I know I need to get on 80 West. This sign tells me 80 West is coming up, and it will be right after the 80 East ramp. So far, so good. HOWEVER, what side of the street is the 80 West ramp? It could be a ramp on the right side or the left - yet this sign doesn’t tell me.
My version of the sign tells the driver the ramp is coming up and it is on the right side of the street.
Simple, right? Now, who do I tell to get this implemented?
